To give you a little history about myself and my volleyball credentials, I will start by saying volleyball has been a huge part of my life since high school. I played at Deer Valley High School while playing club volleyball at East Bay Juniors and Diablo Valley. I continued playing volleyball at Sacramento State University. Upon returning home from college, I immediately began assistant coaching at Deer Valley High School for both the boys and girls varsity teams, while also head coaching multiple Diablo Valley teams over the years.

In 2012, I took over the Pittsburg Boys Varsity team and coached there for seven years, going to NCS multiple times. During this time (and still), I assistant coach the LMC Women’s Volleyball team. This will be my 10th year doing so.

Last year, I was given the opportunity to coach the 18’s Black team. It was a blast to see the achievements the team made over the season.

My coaching philosophy is simple. 100 percent effort all of the time. A player can not always control the outcome of every play they make, but they can always control the amount of effort they put into everything they do. Hardworking players and teams always seem to have a bit of luck on their side, but in reality, that luck is just their hard work personified. Work hard, play hard.

She has also successfully coached girls’ volleyball club teams in the Bay Area and is IMPACT and SafeSport certified. Haley is excited to bring her passion for volleyball, competition, and the value of teamwork and commitment to Diablo.

Amy Lewis

Amy Lewis

I have been playing volleyball since I was a little girl. I started out as a ball girl for the team my mom coached and quickly fell in love with the sport. I started playing club volleyball at 10 and played four years on my high school varsity volleyball team and earned All-League all four years. I went on to play for four years for Point Loma Nazarene University and graduated with a B.A. in Exercise Science.

I have been coaching and training with Diablo since 2015 and I have been coaching at San Ramon Valley High School since 2012. I have a passion for working with young athletes and helping them become better athletes and teammates. My goal for each season is that each player feels like they have gained a better knowledge of the game and feel like they have worked hard to improve their abilities.
Henry Santos

Henry Santos

Coach Henry started playing volleyball during his freshman year of high school and was the starting setter for the varsity team all four years. Although he went to college to pursue his baseball career, he still kept playing volleyball on his days off. He graduated from Hawaii Pacific University with his Master's in Business Administration and joined the US Coast Guard. While serving in the military, he started his coaching career with a local command unit made up of active duty and reserve members playing in local and regional tournaments. After moving to the Bay Area, he started coaching an adult team to include the master's division, 35 years of age and older. He also coached CYO 8th grade girl's volleyball at Christ the King school in Pleasant Hill. Coach Henry is passionate about volleyball and is dedicated to his players on and off the court. He lives by the values of Honor, Respect, and Devotion to Duty!

For as long as I can remember, volleyball has been a part of my life. Growing up in Hawaii, I’ve played multiple sports but volleyball was the one that I knew would always be with me throughout my journey of life. I played all throughout high school and was fortunate enough to play one year of club volleyball. My experience playing at Kamehameha Volleyball Club was the best time that I ever had. I learned more about volleyball in the four months that I played there than I did in the four years that I played at my high school. I am grateful for that opportunity which pushed me in the direction of becoming a physical educator and coach at the collegiate level.

Having played volleyball at multiple levels (high school, club, junior college, and university) gave me valuable experience as a student-athlete but also as a future collegiate coach. Upon completing my playing career, I transitioned into coaching where I've spent 34 years of sharing my passion for volleyball. Providing players an opportunity to learn, grow, play at a high level, and understand what is expected of them to do their best is what gives me joy to continue to coach volleyball.
Jeany Cave

Jeany Cave

Hi, my name is Jeany Cave and I have been coaching volleyball for over 25 years and this is my second year coaching with Diablo. I first developed my love for the sport when I played in school. Since that time I have coached various age levels from 13’s - 18’s, junior high, high school, and club.

I had the great opportunity to coach both of my daughters and now they too are coaching their own teams up in Oregon where they now live. I took a brief break from coaching during my youngest’s senior year of high school so I could enjoy her last year. Once I retired from the Fire Service I decided it was the right time to return to coaching and Diablo is my perfect fit.
Ellie Beyler

Ellie Beyler

Hi, my name is Ellie Beyler. I am 19 years old and this is my second year of coaching. I’ve played middle blocker and right side hitter at both the high school and college level with years of club experience. My goal as a coach is to bring my own experience as a player and help the athletes develop to the next level.

I’ve been coaching since I was very young. One of the first things I learned as a player and coach is that if you have a strong base of fundamentals, you will have every tool you need in order to succeed in whatever sport you play.

My coaching philosophy is very simple and that is to make the growth and development of the game my number one concern each and every day. The athletes will learn what it takes to be a team player and develop each and every skill it takes to play this wonderful game of volleyball. As a coach, I will work hard each and every day to improve and expect every player on my team to do the same. My team motto is to always be better than we were yesterday!

Coaching Philosophy

My main goals for the players that I coach are that they improve in the game of volleyball, build confidence, and gain strong communication skills.

CAP I – Certified

I have been involved in coaching sports since I was 14 years old when I was helping my dad coach my older sister’s softball team. I have always had the passion to be a coach and share my experience with others. I have been coaching volleyball for over 30 years. I have coached all levels and I have coached players from 8 to 60 years old.

I have had lots of successes in coaching and not all have come from winning a game. Just the idea that players finally get what I am asking them to do is the greatest gift I can receive. The player will look over towards me with a big smile, and we both know what has just happened.

I have my degree in Physical Education from California State University Long Beach. I’ve taken many things that I learned from my degree and incorporated them into my coaching.

I have always liked this quote that I share with all my teams. ”There is no limit to what can be accomplished if it doesn’t matter who gets the credit”

Shaelie Murphy

Shaelie Murphy

My volleyball career started when I moved out to California in 7th grade. The second I started playing I immediately fell in love with the game. I played both club (Kamana Volleyball Club, East Bay Volleyball Club, and Diablo Valley Volleyball Club) and school for six years and played one season of beach volleyball (Kamana Volleyball Club).

I graduated from Livermore High School in the Class of 2022. I made varsity my sophomore year as a libero. I was team captain on 5 of my teams. I won Most Improved on my first club team, the Coaches Award on my 16’s club team, and MVP on my freshman high school team.

As far as my coaching philosophy, I just want to make sure that everyone’s having fun while still learning the game and making sure that they always have the support they need to become the players they want to be. My goal is to help players have the best experience with this sport and fall in love with the game just like I did.

Since picking up a volleyball for the first time at a clinic in 2010, the game has changed my life forever. It quickly became my passion and what kept me motivated to do better and be better; there was no turning back! I was involved with Diablo Valley Volleyball clinics before playing at Clayton Valley Charter High School and then at Sonoma State University for the Women’s Club team. We were fortunate enough to bring home the title of Division ll National Champions in 2018. During my time at Sonoma State, I was given the opportunity to be the head coach at Casa Grande High School for the Freshman and JV teams and the assistant coach for the Varsity team. Coaching at a high school level inspired me to start coaching for NOMAR volleyball club where I was the head coach for a 14 Premier team. After returning home from college, I began coaching for Diablo where I was the assistant coach of a 15 Power team and 16 Premier team. Since then, I have been a head coach and assistant coach for many teams and clinics. I am always excited to share my love of the game and help athletes reach their goals!

Some of my goals are:

I tried many different sports growing up but I eventually discovered volleyball and fell deeply in love with the sport. I had watched my older sister play in high school and really didn’t get to try it until I got to middle school. It became something I knew I was good at but strived to be even better at every day. Once I got to high school I discovered club and began to play and grow stronger as a player but also as a person. I played club for four seasons, 3 being played with Diablo and 1 with Hercules Dynamite. After graduating high school I went on to play 1 season at Los Medanos College. Playing volleyball has taught me self-discipline, teamwork, mental toughness, effective communication on and off the court, and commitment. Learning these not only helped me deal with situations on the court but also off the court. After finishing my season at Los Medanos I knew I wouldn’t be able to live without volleyball and knew I wanted to give back to our youth. Since then I have assistant coached 4 teams and head coached 1 team for Diablo.

Coaching Goals
As a coach, I strive to give my players the best opportunity to thrive under any circumstances on or off the court. I want to give my players a positive experience while also helping them gain confidence, learn how to work together and communicate effectively.

I grew up in Lincoln, NE surrounded by fantastic opportunities to watch and participate in sports. I grew up watching and attending volleyball camps at the University of Nebraska (I'm sad I couldn't attend the game at Memorial Stadium this year, but it was amazing to see so many people that I know in attendance!). Having watched and learned from great athletes and coaches, fueled my passion to continue to learn and develop as a player. I started playing volleyball in 5th grade, and for the most part, haven't stopped since. I was a four-year letter winner on the Lincoln North Star Varsity volleyball team (2003-2006). I contributed as a setter, defensive specialist, and libero, and helped us go to state my sophomore through senior seasons. I carried the momentum from my school seasons into club play. In college, I was a part of the University of Tulsa's All Girl Cheerleading Squad (2007-2009). I also participated in a work-study job with our media relations department that allowed me to work on all of the sports in the office, and when I wasn't cheering, I was working the games. I used my experience playing volleyball to help the other student workers learn the game and understand how to document the statistics required.

This will be my first season coaching for Diablo. Previously I have coached co-ed teams ages 7-14 in Arizona from 2017-2021. I love seeing the progress of every player's skills from the beginning of the season til the end. I like to focus and build upon the fundamental skills of volleyball as well as preach effort, energy, and enthusiasm! I'm looking forward to this season, and getting back into coaching the sport that I love!

I was introduced to volleyball in middle school and immediately fell in love with the sport and continued playing in high school. I was a multi-sport athlete in high school playing all seasons and have a true love for not only being active but working as a team towards a common goal. I took on the captain role on many of those teams in both high school and college. In 2005 I won the Female Athlete of the Year Award at Los Medanos Junior College.

Since finishing college, I now work with students daily as a middle school P.E. teacher and have experience coaching multiple sports. The sports I’ve coached include volleyball, softball, soccer, cross country, and basketball. I absolutely love coaching, and it is a true passion of mine. I’m excited to be coaching in the Diablo Valley volleyball program and look forward to watching the girls grow their skills and love for volleyball together on the court.

Delta Valley Middle School Volleyball Championships include…
• Three Time 6th Grade Girls Volleyball Champions ~ Adams Middle School
• Two Time 6th Grade Girls Volleyball Champions ~ Bristow Middle School
•7th Grade Girls Volleyball Champions ~ Bristow Middle School

• Creating a positive, inclusive environment where players can develop as athletes - both mentally and physically
• Fostering an environment where the players feel inspired to strengthen their skills - individually and as a team

• Building meaningful, authentic relationships with players, coaches, and other clubs

Volleyball has always been a big part of my life. My mom was a player and a coach and got me hooked. I was a player for about 13 years, starting when I was young and through high school, club, and college. I have been coaching since 2010 and have coached many teams from 5th grade through 12th grade.

I expect hard work and commitment from all of my teams. We focus on improvement of skills and knowledge of the game and having fun while learning. I believe in positive reinforcement to help my players be the best they can be. I am excited to be a part of the Diablo Volleyball Club family!

I began playing volleyball when I was 13 with Diablo and continued with the club all the way through my 18’s year. I attended Deer Valley High School where I helped win two NCS championships and three BVAL titles. I was also awarded two team MVP’s and league MVP in my senior year. I went on to the University of Nevada, Reno where I played for the club team and eventually became the club president in my final two years of play. Throughout my volleyball career, I predominantly played outside hitter and libero. This is my first season taking a team with Diablo, however my coaching experience includes the Diablo summer clinics for the past five years as well as coaching a JV team for Wooster High School in Reno during my senior year of college.

My goal as a coach is to help players develop both individually and as a team in order to compete at the highest level of play they’re capable of, while also maintaining a fun environment!
